Jamie Rebecca Ross

Jamie Rebecca Ross, 39, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Columbus Hospice House, surrounded by family, after a series of recent, severe illnesses.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday, July 8, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. Family and friends are invited to a reception at her mother’s home located at 9 Libby Court, Columbus, GA following the family visitation. An interment ceremony will be held at Parkhill Cemetery on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Jamie was born August 7, 1984 in Phoenix, AZ daughter of Libby Massiah Minton. She moved to Columbus, GA shortly thereafter and attended schools in Muscogee and Harris Counties. She attended the Columbus Recreation Department’s Special Population programs and Easter Seals. Jamie was an avid Disney and cartoon fan and could quote large sections of movies and songs. She gave nicknames to her people, usually related to TV or cartoons. She had a simple and entertaining sense of humor and sometimes “pranked” others. Jamie was physically and mentally handicapped but found her way through this world, making friends and inspiring others with her resilience. She was adored by and loved her grandparents Russell and Betty Shaw, who both preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother, Libby Massiah Minton (Tommy) of Columbus, GA; siblings, Janice Dukes of Columbus, GA, Jackie Rogers (Taylor Hayes) of Atlanta, GA, Jared Rogers of Rochester, MN; step- siblings Kristy Erwin (Cody); Corey Minton; Mathew Minton; nephews and a niece, Lily Dukes; nephew, Dakota Gerrits, nephew, Connor Gerrits; uncles, Edward Shaw (Jennifer), Bob Shaw; and numerous other family.
