James Ronald “Ronnie” Knighton

James Ronald “Ronnie” Knighton, 70, of Columbus, GA died February 1, 2023 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Matthew Mouser and Rev. Russell Horne officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service.

Ronnie was born June 1, 1952 in Columbus, GA to the late Claude Knighton and Helen Gunnels Knighton. He worked as a security guard for Spring Harbor. He enjoyed reading the Bible, going on walks, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school class, was a song leader and served on numerous boards and committees.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rae Newman Knighton of Columbus, GA, daughter, Emily Kilcrease (Adam) of Phenix City, AL, brother, Gary Knighton of Phenix city, AL, grandchildren, Adalyn and Emersyn Kilcrease of Phenix City, AL, brother and sister in law, Tony and Dee Mitchell of Midland, GA, along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make contribution  to the family go fund me to help with medical and final expenses or to First Freewill Baptist Church 952 54th St, Columbus, GA 31904.
