James Almon Weatherford, 74, went to Heaven to be with his Savior on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
Jim was born in Decatur, Alabama on January 27, 1937. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Jim spent most of his career as an international salesman in the cotton gin industry. He traveled the world selling and installing cotton gins in remote regions, primarily the Middle East and Africa. He was a proud member of and enjoyed working with Sons of The American Revolution (SAR).
Jim was highly admired for his generosity and dedication to God and his family. In addition, he was a dedicated husband, friend, father and grandfather. Jim was loved by his wife, Darlene, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Charles Marsh, son, Jim, Jr. (deceased) and daughter-in-law, Marcy Weatherford, and son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Wendy Weatherford. He was very proud of nine grandchildren, Allen, Andrew and Aaron Marsh of Phenix City, AL, Lauren, Trey, Evan and Carson Weatherford of Dawsonville, GA, and Avery and Abby Weatherford of Newnan, GA. He is also survived by one brother and his wife, Robert and Carole Weatherford of Corpus Christi, TX.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Solid Rock Assembly of God 6959 Warm Springs Rd. Midland, GA 31820 according to Colonial Funeral Home 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL 36867.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to CUFI, Christians United for Israel in care of Solid Rock Assembly of God, the Columbus, GA chapter of SAR, or a charity of their choosing in Jim's honor.
