James Larry "Butch" Sloan, 68, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Vernon Prather officiating. An interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Sloan was born January 6, 1946 in Columbus, GA, son of Catherine Dominick Gunn of Columbus, GA and the late Cecil Pettus Sloan. He was a member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church and was an avid Bulldog Fan. Mr. Sloan owned Sloans Cleaning Service for 12 years and was a driver for Carl Gregory.
Other than his father he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Mizzel and step-father, Bryant Gunn.
Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Anita Norrell Sloan of Columbus, GA; son, David Sloan (Cathy) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Marie of Phenix City, AL; sisters, Tommie Jean Miel (Steve) of Glendale, AZ and Linda Hines (Andy) of Columbus, GA; half-sisters, Ann, Sue, Meryl, Lorie; step-brother, James; grandchildren, Nicholas Sloan, Cale Hammock, Sky Hammock, and Jasmine Hammock; great-grandchildren, Jayden Vaugh and Briella Rivera.
Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make memorial donations at Gentiva Hospice, 2425 Williams Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
