Leonard Richardson, 90 of Columbus died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 26, 2011 at Beallwood Baptist Church, with Rev. Billy Duncan and Rev. Jimmy Richardson officiating. A private interment will be held in Geneva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
Mr. Richardson was born March 29, 1921 in Columbus, GA son of the late Erin Davis Richardson and Phillip Ira Richardson, Sr. He was a U. S. Army Veteran having served during World War II and was known as a man of three battalions. He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir and was the Secretary for the Senior Adult Sunday School Department. He was the owner of Richardson Tire and Appliance Store and he also loved to paint.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carrie Black and Imogene Combs; brothers, P. I. Richardson, Jr and John Richardson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sarah B. Richardson of Columbus, GA; son, Jimmy Richardson and wife Frances of Paradise, TX; daughters, Sally Toddy and husband Dale of Hamilton, GA and Amy Benson and husband Mike of Fortson, GA; sister, Erin Garland of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Laura Hutson (Paul), Nathan Richardson (Missi), Ellen Davis(Brian), Geneva Louise Toddy and Andrew Thomas Benson; great grandchildren, Matthew Hutson, Jackson Hutson, Grey Richardson and Chandler Richardson and several nieces and nephews.
