James Morgan Mason, Jr., 71, of Fortson, GA died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Mason was born October 14, 1941 in Andalusia, AL son of the late James M. Mason, Sr. and Isla Livingstone Mason. He worked as a training officer for the Department of Corrections for the State of Georgia and was a certified armorer, loved to tinker with guns and cars. He was a Baptist by faith. He was also an avid hunter, and loved NASCAR and nature.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Fowler Mason of Fortson, GA, sons, Charles Eugene Mason of Columbus, GA and Morgan Lee Mason of Fortson, GA, and cousin, William Petrasek of Columbus, GA.
