James Michael Kelly, 29, affectionately known to friends and family as Jamie, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Brad Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will be held at Getzen Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, 10233 Fortson Rd Columbus GA 31904.
Jamie was born on August 6th, 1994, in Lexington, Kentucky; Jamie brought joy and laughter into this world until his peaceful passing on December 8th, 2023, in Columbus, Georgia, due to natural causes.
A proud graduate of the local Ferrier School, Jamie dedicated his professional life to labor and horse Ferrier, a craft that spoke to his deep affinity for animals and his diligent work ethic. His colleagues in the field will remember him as a man who married skill with compassion, ensuring the well-being of the animals he cared for; Jamie’s passions were as genuine as his smile. He found solace and joy in playing games, a hobby that showcased his strategic mind and competitive spirit. His love for animals extended beyond his work, manifesting in a dedication to healing and caring for them. Jamie's culinary talents were no secret, as he loved to cook, delighting friends and family with his delicious creations. A movie enthusiast, he could often be found reciting lines from his favorite films, a testament to his sharp memory and witty sense of humor. Those who knew Jamie would unanimously agree that the words loving, gentle, and funny only begin to capture the essence of his character. His approach to life was one of kindness and a gentle strength that drew people to him. His humor was the light in any room, and his laughter was contagious.
