James “Jim” E. Geer

James “Jim” E. Geer, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of February 12, 2025.

A brief graveside will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 17, 2025 at Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Calhoun officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Jim was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 26, l934 to the late J. Ernest Geer, Sr. & Winona Scott Geer. He retired from Florida Blue Cross and Blue Shield in May, 1995 with thirty-six years of service.  He was a former member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla. He moved to Valdosta, GA. for two and a half years and was first a member of Morningside Baptist Church and then Northside Baptist. He and his wife Beverly moved to Columbus, GA in 1997 and were active members of Wynnbrook Baptist Church.  Jim was active in a Sunday school class and Beverly was a teacher of the Naomi Sunday School class. He was a volunteer at both Columbus Botanical and Callaway Gardens for many years.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann (Bean) Geer of fifty-six years on January 19, 2016 and sister, Jo-Beth Pace.

Survivors include his daughters, Kelly Geer of Jacksonville, FL, Kimberly Scarbrough, & husband Fred; grandchildren, Brad Williams, wife Lisa and their daughter, Bekah Joy, son, James Shepard; granddaughter, Allison Burns and husband Nick, all of Columbus, GA, twin nieces, Linda Worley of Marietta, GA and Brenda Shields of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
