James Ronald "Jimmy" Horne, 64, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Horne was born on January 21, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late James Dozier Horne and Lottie Williams Horne. He was a 1972 graduate of Lagrange High School in Lagrange, Georgia, and a 1974 graduate of Columbus Area Vocational Technical School (now Columbus Technical College). At Columbus Tech, he was a Georgia Occupational Award Leadership honoree.
Mr. Horne worked as a service technician with DeZURIK Corporation, traveling throughout the country servicing industrial and municipal valves. He loved cars, and he had a keen interest in drag racing. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
He is survived by two brothers, Gene Horne (and wife, Karen), of Panama City, FL, and Jerry Horne (and wife, Twila) of Prattville, AL; nephew Bryant Horne (and wife, Lori), of Tupelo, MS; and nieces Brittany Burch (and husband, Elliot), of Lucedale, MS; Lauren Horne Franks (and husband Patrick) of Clarksville, TN, and Leah Horne, of Prattville, AL; five grand nephews and nieces: Brooklyn Burch, Kate Burch, Elliot Burch, Ford Franks, and Isla Horne; and numerous dear friends, cousins, and other relatives.
Flowers will be accepted, but in lieu of flowers, memorials to Ronald McDonald House Charities are encouraged (to donate, visit www.rmhc.org).
