James "Jim" W. Carroll, 73, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully January 23, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia, after a brief illness.
He was born on June 20, 1945 at his grandparents' home in Smoot, West Virginia to the late Elwyn and Margaret Farren Carroll. He was the son of a coal miner and grew up in the coal camps of West Virginia. The family later moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area. He relocated to South Georgia in 2001 where he met and married his wife who he was happily married to for over 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pattee) Cook Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Derrik McLeod of Hahira, GA; his granddaughters, Rylee Tindall and Addison McLeod of Hahira, GA; sister, Janet Helmick of Thomasville, GA; his brothers and sister-in-law's, Tom and Georganna Carroll of Thomasville, GA, Joe Carroll of Columbus, OH and Mark and Missy Carroll of Lorrain, OH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jody Cook of Harris County, TX; nieces and nephews, Tracy, Jeremy, Justin, Miranda, Matthew, Bethany, Benjamin, Michelle, Sarah and Michael; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday January 30, 2019 in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with Mr. John Klimko officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
