James Clarence Briggs, 84 of Columbus died Friday, September 10, 2010 at Magnolia Manor.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M., Monday, September 13, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Rev. Mike McBride officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 till 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Briggs was born July 23, 1926 in Gastonia, NC son of the late Johnnie Mae Jernigan Williams and Marty Briggs. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II. He was retired from Swift Textiles. He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Watson Briggs and grandson Scott Briggs.
Survivors include his daughters: Cathy Moyer (Bob) of Smiths, AL and Jacqueline Price of Columbus, GA; sons, Randy Briggs of Smiths, AL, Freddie Briggs (Denise) of Conyers, GA and Gary Briggs (Tammy) of Midland, GA; fourteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.
