Jackie Gene Ellis, 73, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 29, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Dan MacMinn officiating.. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.



Jackie, son of the late Aaron and Alva Ellis was born September 9, 1939 in Brundidge, Alabama. In 1953 with his father and mother he moved to Phenix City, AL. He graduated from Central High School in 1957. Jackie retired from Sears as a Service Technician after 38 years of loyal service.



Jackie enjoyed sports, having been on Central High School's track team and baseball team. He was involved with Pioneer Little League during 1974 through 1978. He also played slow-pitch softball and was a member on several bowling teams participating in tournaments. He welcomed a challenge!



He was an avid Alabama fan and a sports enthusiasts. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marsha, one sister, Mrs. Madge Ross of Phenix City, AL and nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.



Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mrs. Jessie Cahela and Mrs. Cleone Holland, and brothers, Mr. Donald Ellis, Mr. Wayne Ellis and Mr. James Ellis.
