Jack Oliver Osteen, 83, passed away at Columbus Hospice on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

Jack was born in Columbus, GA on April 19, 1932 to the late Jack W. and Nell Oliver Osteen. He is also predeceased by a sister, Nelle Rebecca Osteen.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dick Reese and Reverend Tony Crosby officiating. A private burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Jack graduated from Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus and King University in Bristol, TN. He also attended banking schools at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. Jack also proud served his country in the United States Army.

Jack was a proud member of Epworth United Methodist Church and its Questors Sunday School Class, who will act as honorary pallbearers, The Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus and Man-to-Man. Jack also thoroughly enjoyed reading to the students at Downtown Elementary School.

Jack cherished his long-standing relationship with his Springer Opera House family. Beginning in 1978 and spanning more than three decades, Jack performed a variety of integral roles. Performing was his first love. Among his favorite productions were Annie, Oklahoma and Oliver. When his days in the spotlight ended, Jack volunteered at the Springer and enjoyed greeting patrons upon their arrival.

Jack also volunteered at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, the National Infantry Museum and the American Cancer Society.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol Hawkins Osteen, son Jeff Osteen (Jamie Monk) and daughters Jacki Wilson (Roger) and Laurie Osteen Hatch. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Alex Holland Dykes (Cody), Ryne Holland and Joshua Osteen.
