Jack B. Storey, 79, of Columbus, GA died peacefully at Columbus Hospice House Thursday, June 11, 2015.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Waverly Hall Baptist Church, 7515 GA Highway 208, Waverly Hall, Georgia. The Family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 at the church.
Mr. Storey was born November 13, 1935 in Waverly Hall, GA, son to the late Ellis Moon Storey and Beulah Baker Storey. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Lydia Storey Swint, Betty Storey McCullohs and Sara Storey Morrissey.
He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as a long distance truck driver for 30 years. He loved driving so much that after retiring from Tom Foods, he became an owner/operator and continued with his love of driving. Everyone who knew him knew of his love and laughter and his selfless caring of others. He made magic in the kitchen, as well as in the garden. His love and humor live on with us as he was a guide and mentor to many.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 and half years, Linda S. Shepard Storey; children, Jack Baker Storey Jr (Susan) of Columbus, GA, Gordon Ellis Storey (Rhonda) of Abeline, TX, Tom Jones (Evelyn) of Manati, Puerto Rico, Heather Jones Watson (Chris) of Atlanta, GA; brother, Ellis Moon Storey of Columbus, GA and five loving grandchildren, Eric Storey, Brennan Storey, Peden Jones, Casper Jones, Storey Watson and many nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Waverly Hall Baptist Church, GA Highway 208, Waverly Hall, GA 31831. (706) 582-2924
