Irvin P. Kennedy, Jr. 89, of Columbus died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice at Franciscan Woods.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Scott Tucker and Rev. Norman Dunlap officiating. A private family entombment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga.
Mr. Kennedy was born February 2, 1926 in Clanton, Al. son of the late Irvin P. Kennedy, Sr. and Margie Easterling Kennedy. He worked for National Laboratories, Lehn and Fink Products a division of Sterling Drug Company as a field sales manager. Mr. Kennedy was a active member of the community in many ways. He was past President of the Cerebral Palsy Center and was a member of the Board of Directors for eleven years,. Mr. Kennedy organized the Columbus Toastmasters Club and served local, district and state offices with the Columbus Civitan Club. Youth groups were very important to Mr. Kennedy, he coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball for over 20 years.
Other than his parents, Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by his sister, Chrystal Ruthven and his brother Thomas Kennedy.
Survivors include his loving wife Nina Richardson Kennedy of Columbus, Ga., his children Steve Kennedy (Dianne) of Hamilton, Ga., Richard Kennedy (Kay) of Salem, Al., and Tim Kennedy (Julie) of Columbus, Ga., grandchildren, Josh Kennedy(Cheryl), Kaci Hamilton (Wyman), Keeley Frick (Craig), Kane Kennedy, Tori Kennedy and Timothy Kennedy and Six Great Grandchildren.
