Ira "Junior" Cannon

Ira Walter (Junior) Cannon, age 78, of Smiths, AL died Wednesday, February 19, 2014. He was born in Carnegie, GA to the late Ira Seth and Beatrice Lindsey Cannon. Junior was also preceded in death by his brother, George Alfred Cannon. He was a member of Stafford Road Church Of Christ, and retired from Columbus Consolidated Government. Junior was a man that stood firm in what he believed in and had strong opinions in life. He was a man of his word, a true friend, always available to help in any way that he could. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews, and he will be cherished by all.

Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rena Cannon; children: Greg Cannon; Jeff and Marilyn Cannon; Kevin (Lisa) Cannon; Lisa (Phillip) Cannon; grandchildren: Jeff (Anna) Cannon, Jr., Justin (Lynsey) Cannon, Ashley (Jason Turnage) Cannon, Kayla (Cody Walters) Cannon; Clay Cannon; great-grandchildren: Carter, Cameron, Parker, Emma and Parker.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Stafford Road Church of Christ with Minister Steve Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
