Hubert Lavon Hamby

Hubert Lavon Hamby, 81, of Columbus, GA, entered eternal rest on June 13, 2022 at approximately 5:50PM at his residence with his wife Dianne Boothe Hamby and his two sons Rick Hamby, Jonathan Hamby, and daughter, Angela Hamby Williams at his side.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. David Hardwick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Hamby was retired army with 21 years of service holding the rank of S.F.C he was also retired from U.S Marshall’s office. He enjoyed watching his favorite team, Alabama, play football, loved fishing as it was one of his greatest passions and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. He was loved by all who knew him and will be forever missed. He is preceded in death by his father, William Hubert Hamby, mother, Mavis Batson Hamby, grandmother, Nellie (Bigga Momma) Dreading, sister, Gloria Ann Sykes.

Hubert Hamby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianne Boothe Hamby of Columbus, GA, sons, Rick Hamby (Brenda) of Columbus, GA, Jonathan Hamby of Columbus, GA, daughter, Angela Hamby Williams (Charlie) of Columbus, GA, brother, Billy Ray Hamby of Palatka, FL, sisters, Joyce Crowell of Andalusia, AL, Janet Hillman of Semmes, AL, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
