Hubert "Randy" Crockett, 62, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Crockett was born May 20, 1953 in Columbus, GA son of Lois Simpson Crockett Pate of Columbus, GA and the late Hubert "Pat" Crockett. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1971 and attended Columbus Technical College. Mr. Crockett worked as a Computer Programmer for TSYS and AFLAC, and he was a member of Glenn Anthony Baptist Church.
He was a talented musician, singer, and songwriter and was recognized as the co-writer of the Southern gospel chart-topping song, "Testify".
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Barnes and step-father, Willard Pate.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Simpson Crockett Pate of Columbus, GA, wife, Debi Peacock Crockett of Columbus, GA, son, Jonathan Crockett (Dana) of Marietta, GA, three daughters, Kimberly Crockett Hopper (Jon) of Memphis, TN, Lisa Crockett Shoebrooks (Kenny) and Sal Glover all of Smith Station, AL, sister, Pamela Crockett of Enterprise, AL, and seven grandchildren, Starla Shoebrooks, Matthew Shoebrooks, Amelia Crockett, Georgia Hopper, Caroline Crockett, Spencer Glover and Tim Glover.
