Howard Blankenship of Columbus, GA died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2012 at North Highland Assembly of God Church with Dr. Jim and Reverend Darlene Swilley, Reverend Robert French and Dr. Dennis Lacy officiating. There will be a private interment in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Blankenship was born in LaGrange, GA, son of the late C. B. Blankenship and Hilda Wright Blankenship. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard and retired from Georgia Power Company in the Marketing Division, where he was top salesman for many years. He was an adamant golfer and won a car at Green Island Country Club with a hole in one. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast. Mr. Blankenship was a member of North Highland Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betsy Blankenship of Columbus, GA; son, Scott Blankenship (Annette) of Buena Vista, GA; daughter, Lisa Narron (Howard) of Dunedin, FL; brother, Kenneth Blankenship of FL; grandsons, Brandon Lewis, Drake Mailhot, Brandon Lashley and Josh Lashley; granddaughters, Christiana Blankenship and Molly Williams; and great granddaughter, McKenzie Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to North Highland Assembly of God Building Fund, 7300 Whittlesey Blvd., Columbus, GA 31909.
