Homer E. Blakeley, 87, of Phenix City, AL died Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Parkwood Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 5, 2021 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Shane Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Homer was born June 29, 1934 in Phenix City, AL to the late Robert Homer Blakeley and Emma Moody Blakeley. He served in the Army and worked for Swift Mills as a weaver. He loved to go camping, fishing, enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the cars pass by and he loved spending time with his family. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Ricky Blakeley and daughter, Diane Blakeley.
He is survived by his daughters; Kathene Cummings of Columbus, GA, Pam Stephens of Phenix City, AL, sister, Geraldine Lomond, of Newnan, GA, grandchildren; David Rutledge (Faith), Chris Rutledge (Cheryl), Charity Gates (Bobby), Jeremy Cummings (Becky), Nicholas “Nick” Cummings (Emilie), Brandy Blakeley, 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
