Holly Ann Thorne, 49, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Piedmont Midtown.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 5, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
On July 29, 1974, Holly Ann Thorne was born to Linda and Edward Gocken in Independence, Kansas. Holly graduated from Putman High School in 1993. She received her Associates degree in medical assisting from Barton Community College, KS. She later continued her education at Georgia Military College, in Columbus, GA, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in social work. She worked at Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center, as a Behavioral Therapist, in Columbus, GA
Upon meeting Dr. Gerard Derisse in Larned, Kansas in 2007, they were inseparable and sealed their love in holy matrimony on July 27. 2018. To this union, they lived and loved their blended family. Holly had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile that would illuminate any room. She had a heart of gold. Holly's true gift was her love for children. She expressed her love of children within both her personal and professional life. Holly was a fearless advocate for the safety and welfare of children. Everyone knew Holly to be a thoughtful, caring, and compassionate person. She gave tirelessly to help others in need and took great care of her children.
Holly accepted Christ as her lord and Savior in her adult life and was baptized at the Emmanuel Christian Community Church in Columbus, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Marlon Scott, Sr. Holly Ann Thorne was granted her angel wings on her birthday, Saturday evening, July 29, 2023.
Holly was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Edward Gocken.
To cherish her memories, she leaves her devoted husband, Dr. Gerard Derisse: children: Nickolus Kordell Thorne, Christian Michael Thorne, Myhia Nikhole Thorne, Trae Edward Thorne, Isaiah Allen Thorne; Mother: Mrs. Linda Goeken: Sister: Candy German (Cody German); Brother: David Dickens (Laura Dickens), Step Children: Dr. Christine Derisse, Carine Pascale Derisse and a host of family and friends.
Though we may not know the day, nor the hour when we will be called home to be with our Heavenly Father, we do know that Holly Ann Thorne was truly loved by her family and friends. We will miss her dearly, but her spirit lives on in each one of us.
