Herta Rosa Harris, 84, of Columbus, GA died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with the Rev.Cindy Garrard of St. Luke United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA.
Mrs. Harris was born January 20, 1929 in Arenshain, Germany, daughter of the late Paul and Rosa Wack Laurisch.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and a member of Morningside Baptist Church. She was a caregiver, not just to her family, but to all she knew. She enjoyed her flower garden, feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard, and was an avid reader. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Harris is preceded in death by her husband Hoyt Harris.
Survivors include her daughters, Patsy Olson (Mark) and Doris Reid (Marc) both of Columbus, GA; son, Ralph Harris (Dolores) of Cataula, GA; Grandson, Benjamin Howard of Columbus, GA; and granddaughters, Rebekah Reid and Rachel Reid of Columbus, GA, Ashley Harris of Cataula, GA and by several special friends.
Flowers will be accepted; but, those so desiring may make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice.
