Herman Lawrence (Larry) Carr, 57, of Columbus, Ga. died August 31, 2013 peacefully of natural causes.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 07, 2013 at Summerville United Methodist Church, 1201 32nd Street, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.

Mr. Carr was born March 24, 1956 in Selma, AL, son of Doris M. Carr of Columbus, GA and the late Herman T. Carr. He was the owner of Benning Awards in Columbus and was a devoted member and pianist at Summerville United Methodist Church. He worked enthusiastically with other church members to organize events involving the entire congregation in mission projects.
Mr. Carr's passion was music. He loved playing, singing, studying, directing and arranging music. He also loved helping the homeless. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed having fun with family and friends, especially during Christian holidays and special occasions. He also loved traveling in the mountains and participating in folk art workshops.

Survivors other than his mother include one brother, Kenny Carr (Sue) of Milledgeville, GA; one sister, Joy Forlines (Mike) of Upatoi, GA; one niece, Leah Forlines; and two nephews, Wesley Forlines and Christopher Carr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Summerville United Methodist Church.
