Herbert Alton Conner, 83 of Columbus, GA died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brad Hicks officiating. A private interment will be held in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Conner was born April 17, 1930 in Phenix City, Alabama son of the late Thomas Richard Conner and Effie Mae Windham Conner. He was the President of Dominion Yarn Corporation. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran having served on the USS Princeton. He enjoyed gardening and playing golf. He was a Baptist by faith.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Conner; son, Tracy Conner and brothers, Ralph and Arthur Conner.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Patsy Conner of Columbus, GA; son, Roger Conner (Lynn) of Cataula, GA; brother, Don Conner (Enid) of Columbia, SC; sisters, Lois Becker (Kurt) of Jacksonville, FL and Ella V. Houser of Philadelphia, PA; daughter-in-law, Cyndi P. Conner of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Kathryn Conner, Kristin Elia (Adam), Tiffany Goins, Jane Whatley and Hill Whatley and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Gardens of Calvary and Columbus Hospice for the loving care of their father.
