Henry Eugene Kennedy

Henry Eugene Kennedy, 94, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Columbus Hospice. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 6, 2024 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Kennedy was born September 21, 1930 in Columbus, GA son of the late Alvin Lee Kennedy and Margie Van Patten Kennedy. Gene was a graduate of Baker High School and a dedicated veteran who served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he married Betty Lee Thweatt, and they shared 68 years together.  Gene was a supervisor at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 38 years, then was a bailiff for the Columbus Consolidated Government for two decades. Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed softball, golf, boating, and fishing, pursuits that reflected his love for the water and the outdoors.

Other than his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kennedy; siblings, Buster Kennedy, Charlotte Davis, and Scotty Kennedy.

Survivors include his son, Jeff Kennedy (LeAnne) of Fortson, GA; daughter, Leigh Anne Thomas of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Todd Kennedy (Megan) of Columbus, GA, Lauren Money (Caleb) of Columbus, GA, Alex Thomas of Washington, D.C., Trent Thomas (Taylor) of Columbus, GA; great grandchildren, Fallon Kennedy and Solomon Money.
