Henry D. Collins, Jr. 83, of Columbus died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church 7556 Old Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909 with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
Mr. Collins was born June 1, 1928 in Columbus, GA son of the late Henry D. & Attice Fussell Collins. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a 1948 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War having received the good conduct medal, the Korean service medal with one bronze star, UN service medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from Harvey Lumber Company in Sales.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carolyn Gulley Collins and daughter, Tracy Collins Morris.
Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Collins Fountain (Jerry) of Cataula, GA; son, Mark Collins (Pam) of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren, Nicky Fountain of Cataula, GA, Victoria Collins Kush (Justin) of Fayetteville, NC and Daniel Collins (Hillary) of Phenix City, AL; seven great grandchildren; son-in-law, Jim Morris of Dayton Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Ruth Collins of Cataula, Ga, Martha Collins of Columbus, GA and Laura Cordle (Lance) of Calvart City, KY and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Norman Gulley both of Louisville, GA.
