Helon Magnolia Grissett Flowers, 104, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Phenix City Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2015 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Ed Kvietkus, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Flowers was born July 19, 1911 in Goshen, AL daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Grissett and Callie Olgetree Grissett. She worked at Swift Mills and was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hugh Flowers; daughter, Elizabeth Christine McGlothren and grandson, Ronald Flowers.
Survivors include her children, Reverend James Curtis Flowers (Janice) of Columbus, GA, Bill Hugh Flowers (Judith) of Columbus, GA and Ella Verline Smith of Mingo Junction, OH; brother, Myles L. Grissett of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Sharon Vonderhaar (John), Wayne McGlothren (Melanie), JoAnn Wolff, Martha Buttlar (Harold), Billy Flowers, James Smith (Roberta), Dawn Powell (Steve), Christopher Smith (Diane), and James Flowers (Penny), 14 great grandchildren; numerous great- great grandchildren; seven nieces, four nephews, six great nieces, and 23 great nephews.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Rose Hill Baptist Church, 2100 Hamilton Rd., Columbus, GA 31904.
