Helena Eckenfels Hemminger, 78, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Hemminger was born October 21, 1933 in Morak, Hungary daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Fay Eckenfels. She worked as a line worker for AAHP. Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends at the South Columbus and Edgewood Senior Citizens Centers and her beautiful flower gardens. She adored her granddaughters, Stephanie and Shanna and cherished her time with them. Finally, she enjoyed taking trips with her husband, Norm, both to the mountains and to Biloxi.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas, sister, Gratel, and her daughter, Karin Doris Gibson, who passed away in March 2008.
Survivors include her husband, Norm Hemminger of Columbus, GA, son, Mike of Columbus, GA, two granddaughters, Stephanie Gibson Barnes of Bloomingdale, GA and Shanna Gibson Bottoms of Statesboro, GA, sister, Traudel Ankenbauer, nephew, Peter Eckenfels both of Germany, and son-in-law, Rodney Gibson of Statesboro, GA.
