Helen was born November 15, 1939 in Sale City, GA daughter of the late Hayes Grogan and Ruth Lemmacks Grogan. Helen was a member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. She enjoyed traveling to the Cherokee mountains with her church family, her family farm was always her happy place, and she loved spending time there with her children, all generations of grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. Early on in her diagnosis of dementia the family had a legacy video made and the question that was asked of Miss Helen was this, “If you could give all of us one piece of advice for our lives what would that advice be?” She responded with, “It is all about love. Just love each other the way I love each of you.” These are words that she genuinely lived by, to know her was to love and be loved. She had a heart of gold, would give you the shirt off her back and feed you an amazing meal while you were wearing it.
She lived the last 2 and a half years of her life at The Gardens at Calvary Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Columbus, GA. The size of her family tripled in number as she grew to love and be loved by the residents and staff there.
Other than her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James Larry Sharpe.
