Helen Goodman Scott, 82, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, July 18, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, with Rev. Larry Rollins officiating. A private interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery.
Helen Scott was born January 19, 1929 in Columbus, GA to the late Grover Cleveland Goodman and Willie Jackson Goodman. She graduated from Hamilton High School (1946) and moved to Columbus to pursue a career and raise a family. She retired from Royal Crown after 26 years of service. She was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church, Friendship Sunday School class, Golden Saints, and the Birthday Lunch Club.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband James Floyd Scott, Sr. to whom she was married for 55 years, her brother-in-law A. L. Scott, Jr., and sister-in-laws Frances Scott Watson, Louise Scott Goodman and Mary Scott Coulter.
Survivors include her children, Gail Scott Derryberry (Geoff) of Bentonville, AK, James Floyd Scott, Jr. (Susan) of Columbus, Pamela Scott Webb (Thurman) of Columbus. Grandchildren, Jonathan Campbell (Debi), Mark Campbell (Rachel) , James Floyd Scott, III, Jamie Faye Deshong (Josh), Shane Harrison (Keri), Amanda Daniel, Marty Bentfeld and great-grandchildren Madison and Tucker Harrison, Peyton Daniel, Lily Webster, Creed Campbell .
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter United Methodist Church Building Fund or Columbus Hospice.
