Helen Davis, 80, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at her residence with the gates of Heaven open and waiting for her.
A private family inurnment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. 31907.
Helen was born September 18, 1941 in Columbus, GA to the late J.D. Coleman and Helen Coleman. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1959 and earned her PHT Degree (Pushing Hubby Through) at UGA, Pharmacy in 1965. She was a born again Christian at Oates Ave. Baptist Church, member of Gentian Church where she worked in the nursery for 15 years. Helen volunteered at Pioneer little league and was affectionately known as “Sarge” at North Columbus Babe Ruth.
She volunteered for 25 years with baseball and softball, was the past President of North Columbus Babe Ruth league for 4 years, past President of Columbus High Booster Club Baseball Team, President of the PTA at Rosemont Elementary, Britt David Elementary, Arnold Middle School and Columbus High School for a 25 year period. She worked in the guidance department at Arnold Elementary and was the Cafeteria Manager at Britt David. She loved to cook, especially pound cakes, baked birthday cakes and wedding cakes for several years. She loved to fish, ride in her 2008 Red Hummer, vacationing in Daytona and Helen, GA with her family annually for 25 years, made hundreds of baseball, softball, cheerleading and dance trips everywhere with her children. She loved going to the casino and never saw one that she didn’t like. She loved spending time with her family and friends but her grandchildren were her life.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Coleman.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Earnest Davis, children, Dee (Jerry), Earnie (Nikki), Jodi (Matt), Jamie (Wes), grandchildren, Drew (Mallory), Emily, Frank, Joseph, Julia, Lydia, Amelia, Ashby, Briley, great grandchildren, Kenzleigh and Kylor, siblings, Jeff Coleman (Susan), Martha Cleveland, Deanne Brown.
