Helen Janice Regula Dansro

Helen Janice Regula Dansro, 90, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, September 03, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Helen was born May 27, 1933 in Rutland, VT, to the late Frank J. Regula, and Gertrude Kilburn. After High school, she married the love of her life, Sherman Joseph Dansro. Together they raised a family while balancing the rigors of military life. The family would eventually get stationed at Fort Benning, GA, and the family would settle down in Columbus, GA after Master Sergeants Dansro’s retirement from the U.S. Army after more than 24 years of faithful service. Helen’s family remembers her as a selfless person that lend her time volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church as a Eucharistic Minister, and at Contact; a crisis hotline. When she was not volunteering, she enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 60 years Master Sergeant Sherman Joseph Dansro Sr., son, Peter Alan Dansro; young sister, Nacy Regula, and brother, Francis “Buthcie” Regula.

She is survived by her sons, Sherman Joseph Dansro Jr., Roy P. Dansro, daughters, Julie A. Barnes, Sharmane A. Williford, and Michelle H. Dansro, 13 grandchildren, over 40 great-grandchildren and more than 10 great great-grandchildren.
