Helen Maria Blaxton Brown, 77, of Midland, GA passed away Thursday September 23, 2021 at Columbus Hospice. A funeral service will be held 1:30 PM Friday, October 01, 2021 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907, with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service on Friday. A Celebration of Life for Hollis and Maria Brown will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 440 Kristi Lynns Way, Midland, GA 31820.
Maria was born January 10, 1944 in Columbus, GA to the late John W. Hubbard and Ledale Petty Hubbard. She worked in the Real Estate department of Synovus for over 26 years from which she retired.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mercer Hollis Brown.
Survivors include her daughter Leigh Ann DuPriest of West Point, GA; grandchildren, Ava Marie DuPriest of West Point, GA, Piers Van DuPriest of West Point, GA; stepson, Michael Hollis Brown of Buckeye, AZ; step-grandchildren, Katherine Brown of Buckeye, AZ, Michael Brown of Buckeye, AZ; sister, Francine Blanchard of California; nephews, Stephan Blanchard of Midlothian, VA, and Chip Davis of North Carolina.
