Hazel was born July 10, 1942 in Columbus, GA. Hazel's life was a testament to her loving nature, courageous spirit, and natural intelligence. Her journey began as the cherished daughter of Irene Wise and grew to include a lifetime of loving relationships and accomplishments. She attended Jordan Vocational High School and later pursued further education at Columbus State University. Hazel's professional life was marked by her tenure as an office manager for her daughter Maxine's law office, where she was well-respected for her competence and dedication; many people in Columbus's legal community remember her today, years after she retired.

Her personal life was rich with love and joy, shared with her surviving husband, Ronald Kelvin Dixon. Together, they nurtured a family that included their daughter, Maxine and her husband Bill Wallace, son, Tyler and his wife Lori Burns, and Ron's sons, whom she considered her own: Ronald Jr. and his wife Lani Dixon, and Robert and his wife Lynn Dixon. Hazel was a cornerstone in the life of her grandson, Andy Burns Hardy, who lives nearby in Columbus. She cherished her first grandchild, Barrett Davis Burns, who lives in Atlanta. As she did with Ron's children, she loved Ron's grandchildren as her own: Kelvin, Thomas, and Angelie Dixon, and Brendon and Dylan Dixon. In addition to her immediate family, Hazel's warmth and guidance was a beacon for numerous nephews, nieces, and her beloved family member, Carloes Hardy.

Hazel was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Wise, grandmother, Cordie Morgan, brothers Frank Hart and J.C. Hart, sister, Lessie Whittaker, and daughters, Barbara Jean Burns and Nancy Ann Burns. Each of these departures touched her life deeply and shaped the compassionate person she was.

Beyond her family and work, Hazel was a devoted member of Living Grace Church, where she found great solace and community. Her faith was a source of strength and inspiration, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.

Hazel's interests were a reflection of her creative and nurturing spirit. She found pleasure in reading, a pastime that allowed her to explore worlds and ideas beyond her immediate surroundings. Sewing and crafts were outlets for her artistic expression, often resulting in beautiful creations that she shared with loved ones and friends.

Those who knew Hazel would describe her as a beacon of love, courage, and intelligence. Her loving nature was evident in the care and attention she dedicated to her family and friends. Hazel's courage was displayed in her ability to face life's adversities with grace and resilience. Her intelligence shone through in her insightful conversations, her problem-solving skills at work and at home, and her thoughtful advice.

As we remember Hazel, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of familial devotion, personal integrity, and a life well-lived. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.

Hazel Hart Burns Dixon's life was one of purpose and joy. As we bid her farewell, we hold on to the memories and the love she shared so generously. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she influenced and the love that will never fade.
