Harvey Eugene Weldon, 77, of Cataula, GA died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Bethesda Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA with Reverend David Helms officiating. Interment will follow in the Clowers Cemetery in Cataula, GA. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Weldon was born November 9, 1933 in Norlina, NC son of the late Hugh Ernest Weldon and Sarah Lucille Hundley. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer U.S.S. John Hood. He retired from Southern Bell/AT&T after 32 years of service. He served more than 13 years on the Harris County Planning and Zoning Board, more than 19 years as President of Harris County Farm Bureau, and as a regional representative of the National Safety Council. He was also a Mason for 50 years and a member of Kimbrough Lodge in Cataula. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Chloris Bruner Weldon of Cataula, GA, his two daughters, Glenda Jones (Ed) of Seneca, SC and Jan Carter (Tim) of Fayetteville, GA, son, Pete Weldon (Cindy) of Cataula, GA, grandchildren, Walter E. Jones (Laura), Tiffany and Hannah Jones, Alicia McGlamory (Gary), Elena Morales (Rob), Gene Weldon (Megan), Lindsay Weldon, Mitchell Cannon, Morgan Cannon, Katye and Cory Carter, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Charlers Suber (Ruth Ann) of Wildwood, FL and William A. Suber (Betsy) of Mayo, FL, and one sister, Donna Braun (Doug) of Clermont, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and host of other family and friends.
