Harry Leon Howell, II died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M., Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Rev. Vernon Prather officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 till 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Howell was born January 31, 1930 in Leeds, Alabama son of the late Clara Cherry Howell and Harry Leon Howell, I. He was retired after 45 years as a chemist with R.C. Cola, Custom Canners in Atlanta, GA and Coca Cola. He was a lifelong member of St Luke United Methodist Church. He was a member for over 50 years with the American Trapshooting Association, he held the Georgia State Championship for 8 straight years which landed him in the Trapshooting Hall of Fame. He competed for 30 years in National Competition through the U.S. and World. He was known for his handicap trapshooting. He was also an avid member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors included his daughter Barbara Alice Howell of Columbus, GA and son Harry Leon Howell, III of Atlanta, GA.
