Harold LeRoy Westbrook, 95, of Lumpkin, GA died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Lumpkin First Baptist Church in Lumpkin, GA. with Reverend Wayne Williams officiating. Interment will follow at North Side Cemetery in Lumpkin, GA. Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Westbrook was born June 29, 1918 in Alpharetta, GA, son of the late Joel Westbrook and Nannie Bates Westbrook. He moved to Stewart County with his parents and siblings at the age of 2. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer and a true southern gentleman. Mr. Westbrook was a member of Lumpkin First Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Dunaway Westbrook; brothers and sisters, Ethel W. Roberts, Bill Westbrook, Ruby W. Turner, J. B. Westbrook, Tom Westbrook and Eva W. Mosteller.
Survivors include his children, Roy (Judy) Westbrook of Pine Mountain, GA and Wanda (Johnny) Singer of Lumpkin, GA; grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Westbrook of New Orleans, LA, Lauren Westbrook of Albany, GA, Todd Singer of Columbus, GA and Jeff (Stephanie) Singer of Lumpkin, GA; and great grandchildren, Jonathan Singer, Brooks Singer and Cason Singer.
