Harold Eugene Ellison, 82, of Phenix City died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Phenix City Health Care.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 30, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 till 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus.
Mr. Ellison was born May 15, 1928 in Columbus, GA son of the late Mary Lou Cooper Ellison and Joseph Booker Ellison. He retired after 42 years from Southern Bell in 1991. He was a U. S. Marine veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City. After his retirement he enjoyed going fishing, walking and dancing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Oswalt Ellison, second wife, Gloria Conn Ellison and sister Carolyn Weaver Weatherington.
Survivors include his son Michael Eugene Ellison (Sandra) of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Lou Marie Harris (Mike) of Ottawa, Ontario Canada; four grandchildren; Ryan Michael Harris (Kaci) of Crestview, FL, Justin Michael Ellison and Austin Tyler Ellison both of Pensacola, FL and Amanda Harris Velez (Andre) of Montgomery, AL; one great grandson, Jacob Riley Velez of Montgomery, AL; stepson, Steve Kennon of Smiths, AL; stepdaughter, Katrina Kennon Zahnzinger and several nieces and nephews.
