Harold G. Childs, Sr., 73, of Columbus, Ga. died Monday, November 12, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Childs was born December 23, 1944 in Union Springs, Al., son of the late Joseph Thomas Childs and Clara Bell Jordan Russell. He retired as a Maintenance Technician working for Ft. Benning Civil Service and loved tinkering with cars, working around his yard and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and the local news.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Adeline Childs of Columbus, Ga., three sons, Harold G. Childs, Jr. (Vickie) of Fortson, Ga., Ricky Earl Childs of Columbus, Ga., Jared Shane Childs (Diana) of Columbus, Ga., step-son, Christian Riedel (Michelle) of Columbus, Ga., three brothers, Mike Childs (Vicky) of Cataula, Ga., Larry Childs (Chris) of Columbus, Ga., Earl Childs (Gail) of Columbus, Ga., three sisters, Faye James of Columbus, Ga., Judy Lancaster of Monroe, Ga., Ellen Mickle (Danny) of Loveland, OH., six grandchildren, Shay, Bryce, Amanda, Tyler, Shandee, Caleb and three great grandchildren, Lakeyn, Preslei and Keilan.
