Gunner "Ray" Goodwin, 85, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, October 6, 2016 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Porter officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Goodwin was born June 25, 1931 in Burkes Garden, Virginia to the late Walter Herman Augustus and Elizabeth French Goodwin. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Military Police officer and Centennial Industries. Grandpa Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Sgt. Charles Wilkerson while serving in Iraq.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Audrey Goodwin; sons, Stephen Goodwin (Tomasa), and Gary Goodwin (Virginia); grandchildren, Jose Wilkerson (Heather), Cathy Hernandez (Eladio), Sandra Wilkerson, Robert Wilkerson (Reina), Gene Wilkerson (Mariam), Patti Shirley, Debbie Ramon (Tom), John Rivera (Rikki) and Jennifer Nichols (Joe); great grandchildren, Austin, Isabella, Edwin, Mitzy, Mariam, Collin, Lluvia, Estephen, Alexa, Landon, Chelsey, Hunter, Tyler, and Caleb Wilkerson; Victor, Vanessa, Sebastian, and David Hernandez; great grandchildren, Jessica Harrell, Tom and Nathan Ramon, Anthony and Sarah Harrelson, Julia Barbagelott, Meagan, Olivia, Matthew, Madalyn, and Jacob Nichols, Kinsleigh and Kellan Rivera; and great great grandchildren, Lorelei Toole, Blaiklee and Miles Ramon, and Romeo Hernandez.
