Grace Dean Pennell Wood, 90 of Columbus, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Canterbury Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home , 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Private interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wood was born September 12, 1924 in Rhonda, NC, daughter of the late O. Dean and Grace Greene Bentley. She was a homemaker and retired as a Realtor with Pennell-Dunn Realty. Mrs. Wood was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus. She enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at St. Francis Hospital, working in the gift shop for 21 years.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Pennell and Les Wood, and her brother Warren Bentley.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Pennell Trax (David) of Zionsville, IN; a son, Samuel Dean Pennell (Jolly) of Smiths, AL, nephews, Bill Bentley and Charles Dean Bentley, four grandchildren, Amber VanBibber (Michael), Sammy Pennell, Katie Trax and Will Trax, two great grandchildren, Libby VanBibber and Davis VanBibber.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
