A celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friend following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Born on September 24, 1952, in Gadsen, Alabama, Gloria's life was a journey of love, learning, and laughter that touched everyone she knew.
Gloria's early years in Gadsen were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Otto Wayne Starns and Onzelle Bea Starns, cherished sister to Greg Starns and his late wife Theresa, and loving wife and partner to Bobby Chesnut.
In the tapestry of her life, Gloria was a devoted mother to Donnie Slocumb and his wife Amanda, and a loving stepmother to Ryan Chesnut and his wife Calista as well as an aunt to Misty Sidebottom and her husband Jonathan, David Terrell and his wife Linda, and Sam Terrell. She was a proud grandmother to Jacob Slocumb, Mackenzie Bridges, Kaitlyn Slocumb, Megan Griffen, Joseph Santiago, Joshua Santiago, Jared Santiago, Gavin Chesnut, and Olivia Chesnut, each of whom added a unique thread of happiness to her life.
Gloria's professional life was marked by over four decades of dedicated service as a respected insurance agent. Her intelligence and spirited nature made her a favorite among colleagues and clients alike. Education was a valued part of Gloria's life, and although she pursued some college education, it was her adventurous spirit that led her to the greatest lessons life had to offer. She was a lifelong learner, always eager to explore new horizons and experiences.
Traveling was one of Gloria's greatest passions. She found immense joy in visiting places like Red Rock, Colorado, where the beauty of nature spoke to her adventurous soul. Whether she was fishing in serene waters or attending outdoor concerts, Gloria's love for the outdoors was evident. Her laughter and enthusiasm were infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to make every moment memorable. Gloria's interests extended beyond her personal hobbies; she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends. Her home was a hub of laughter and music filled the air.
