Gloria "Skipper" Brown, 84, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mariusz Fuks officiating. There will be a private interment in Riverdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Brown was born August 22, 1926 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Robert Fitzsimmons Banks and Leona Gordy Banks. She worked as a secretary for Lockheed and was a carrier with Ledger Enquirer for 20 years. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joel Brown, her son, Greg Beddow and her sister, Juanita Baker.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Carlisle (Roger Philips) of Roswell, GA, Susan Kirk (Gary) of Woodstock, GA, and Robin Sands (Hal) of Cataula, GA; grandchildren, Brett Beddow, Amy Keating, Tiffany Rose, Ashley Ivester, Lindsay Gimblet, Leslie Karr, Kristin Sands and Carson Sands; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Barbara Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
