Gertrude Virginia Harper, 86, of Columbus, GA died Saturday January 12, 2019 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday January 15, 2019 at the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA, with Reverend Todd Horne officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harper was born April 23, 1932 in Hale County, AL to the late James Elsworth Meeks and Foy Hannah Meeks. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her Husband, Harold Edward Harper, her parents, and a granddaughter, Crystal Harper.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Schaaf (Jerri) of Columbus, GA, sons, Julian Harper (Gerri) of Montgomery, AL, James "Jimmy" Harper of Wetumpka, AL, Bill Harper of Columbus, Roy Harper (Tammie) of Columbus, Harold C. Harper of Columbus, and Allen Harper of Columbus, a sister, Beatrice Williamson of Birmingham, AL, 13 grandchildren, Chance Harper, Shawn Harper, Shannon Powell, Bryan Harper, B.J. Harper, Joshua Harper, Jessie Harper, Jeni Harper, Bryson Harper, Bethany Harper, Blair Phillips, Britt Schaaf, and Erica Taylor, and 20 great grandchildren.
