Gerald L. Moody, Sr., 80, of Columbus, GA died Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 29, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Rawlings officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.

Mr. Moody was born August 29, 1929 in Luverne, AL son of the late Jared Marcus and Emma Lawrence Moody. Mr. Moody was a U.S. Army Veteran, and retired after 40 years as a Salesman with Car Quest. He retired from The American Red Cross after 10 years in Blood Distribution. He was a long time member and Deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and was attending Crystal Valley Baptist Church.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David K. Moody.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Redmond Moody of Columbus, GA, four sons, Lawrence Moody (Marilyn) of Cumming, GA, Bobby Moody (Donna) of Midland GA, Dean Moody (Minnie) of Columbus, GA, Chris Moody (Tonya) of Seale, AL, two sisters, Alice Wyrosdick of Columbus, GA, Barbara Clark of Smiths, AL, one brother, Dalton Moody of Goshen, AL, ten grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher, Robert, Jr., Ben, Brandi, Amanda, Rebecca, Jessica, Madalyn and Lillian and six great grandchildren, Hailey, Fletcher, Virginia, Kayla, Sean and Woodrow.

Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His legacy of love, humility, honesty and integrity will live on for generations to come.
