Gene Lamar Peoples, Jr., 41, of Columbus died Friday, May 21, 2010.
Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Monday, May 24, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Chaplain Brandon Hampton and Rev. Gene Boyd officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Phenix City Fire Fighters. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 till 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Peoples was born June 1, 1968 in Columbus, GA son of Brenda Cavitt Peoples and the late Gene Lamar Peoples, Sr. He was a 1986 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. He was also graduate of Chattahoochee Valley Community College with a degree in Fire Science. He was a Retired Fire Fighter and EMT with the Phenix City Fire Department and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Lamar Peoples, Sr.
Survivors include his mother Brenda C. Peoples of Columbus, GA; step mother Sue E. Peoples of Lake Wells, FL; sons Jacob C. Peoples of Columbus, GA and Christian O. Peoples of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren Cameron and Caden Peoples of Columbus, GA; sisters Valisa Peoples Schmidley (Jeff) of Granite Bay, CA and Jennifer Peoples Johnson (Clint) of Salem, AL; brother Kevin Peoples of Columbus, GA; niece Alexandra Schmidley and nephews Carson Schmidley and Will Johnson.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to the Gene Peoples Memorial Fund, Valisa Schmidley and Jennifer Johnson, Administrators at any Wachovia Bank location.
