Gary Francis Lamora

Gary Francis LaMora, 83, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital.
Memorial Services/Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Morningside Baptist Church with Senior Pastor John Badgett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment service with full military honors will be held at a later date at Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarboro,North Carolina.
Gary was born September 18, 1939 in Watertown NY. Son of the late Clarence Sanford LaMora and Katherine Philips LaMora. He retired from the U.S. Army as an E-7 Sargeant First Class earning Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bar and National Defense Service Medal. After he retired from the military he worked for the state of Georgia at Rutledge State Prison as a Kitchen Manager. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and an avid golfer. Gary also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his children: Emily Gray and spouse Thomas of McKeesport, PA, Pattie Bembenick and spouse Joe of Castle Hayne, NC, Kenny LaMora and spouse Julie of Oroville, CA, Gary LaMora and spouse Vickie of Macclesfield, NC and Tammy Sechler and spouse Michael of Buckley, Wa. A brother, Terrence Patrick Lamora and spouse Chung Ja of Eugene, Or and his best friend/companion Janet Robertson of Cataula, Ga.
