SSgt. (Ret.) Gale R. Morningstar, 81, of Columbus, GA, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 17, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Harry Winters officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
SSgt. (Ret.) Morningstar was born January 2, 1934 in Marietta, Ohio, son of the late Otis J. Morningstar and Lula Strickland Morningstar. He served in the United States Army for 20 years and later was a TV Tech for Allen's TV.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth Doan Morningstar of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Crystal Morningstar-Hatcher of Phenix City, AL and Patricia Ezell (Donald) of Fortson, GA; three sons, Richard Morningstar (Elizabeth) of Suffolk, VA, Michael Morningstar (Cindy Parker) of Smith Station, AL, and Randy J. Morningstar (Anita) of Moore, OK; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Worth (Carl), Randy Jaye Morningstar, Michael Barron, Jonathan Morningstar, Richard Morningstar, Christopher Morningstar, Dustin Morningstar, Joshua Hatcher, Jessica Hatcher, Mackenzie Morningstar, Teressa Sturges, and Odona Whiddon; 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Meghan, Bradley, Adam, and Kylee Worth; and one great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Worth.
