Frieda E. Moye, 79, of Fortson, GA died Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1232 Double Churches Rd. Columbus, GA 31904 with Rev. Matt Stevens officiating. A family interment will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Moye was born April 1, 1939 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late William W. Ensminger and Bernice Appleby Ensminger. She was a Teacher for the Muscogee County School District for 32 years where she was the 1st recipient of the Muscogee County Teacher of the Year Award. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, helped with Vacation Bible School and was very devoted to her circle of friends in the Sunshine Joy Sunday school class. Mrs. Moye loved art and volunteered at the Springer Opera House.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter G. Wright.
Survivors include her husband, Kyle S. Moye of Fortson, GA, children, William B. Carter of Winterville, GA, Rita Bishop (Randy) of Hamilton, GA, Kenneth H. Carter, Jr. (Pam) of Lakeland, FL and Jeremy Moye of Fortson, GA, step-children, Deborah Moye Samra (Frank) of Hamilton, GA and Michael Kyle Moye (Christine) of Smiths, AL, and sister, Ann Wright Mobley (Raymond) of Columbus, GA. She was a loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to Mt. Zion Baptist Church or to the Springer Opera House 103 E 10th St. Columbus, GA 31901.
