Freida P. Duke, 71, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at North Highland Church 7300 Whitesville Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 with Dr. Dennis Lacy officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Duke was born June 19, 1946 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Willie Austin Pipkins and Exer Lee Sparks Pipkins. She worked as a hairdresser and was a member of Chapel of the Hills in Centerville, TX. Mrs. Duke loved to cook, loved her animals and traveling with her husband.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Herston Maddox.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Richard Duke of Columbus, GA, daughter, Felicia Cortez (Ellis) of Jewett, TX, son, Bill Bell (Cindy) of Columbus, GA, brothers, Rossell Pipkins of Columbus, GA and Leroy Pipkins (Marie) of Albany, GA, sister, Diane Spence (Richard) of Las Vegas, NV, 6 grandchildren, Bret and Angel Cortez, Jacob Maddox, Amber Gunter (Mike), Erin Noelte (Ryan) and Adelyn Bell, and 2 great grandchildren, Grayton Gunter and Knox Noelte.
Since this is a cremation memorial service, there is no burial site. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to Columbus Hospice, as they did a wonderful job taking care of her.
